Top-selling jerseys

TOP 10 ON SHOP.NHL.COM (December 1-31, 2007)

1. Sidney Crosby, Pittsburgh Penguins
2. Alex Ovechkin, Washington Capitals
3. Daniel Briere, Philadelphia Flyers
4. Chris Drury, New York Rangers
5. Ryan Miller, Buffalo Sabres
6. Maxim Afinogenov, Buffalo Sabres
7. Brendan Shanahan, New York Rangers
8. Evgeni Malkin, Pittsburgh Penguins
9. Joe Thornton, San Jose Sharks
10. Henrik Lundqvist, New York Rangers

And here I thought everyone in Buffalo already had a Sabres jersey (honestly, though, Afinogenov is having quite the year for his merchandise sales to spike).

It really is amazing that players on Canadian teams don't sell more jerseys.

I think they probably just walk to the corner store instead of going on NHL.com

Only one western conference team in the top 10?

Maybe the Afinagenovs are replacements for all the Drurys and Brieres...

Why in God's name would anyone buy a Briere jersey?

The Flyers organization has been shoving him down our throats as fans, but he's far from the player I'd expect to see for $10 million a year. I believe a lot of it is just because of the difference in dynamics between the Sabres and the Flyers teams, but he's still been pretty disappointing.

I could understand being upset if he was actually making $10 million a year, S, but that's just what he's making this year. His cap is a pretty reasonable $6.5 million. Even with Gagne out of the lineup, he's still managing a PPG. I don't see any reason Philly fans should be frustrated with that contract, other than maybe the length.

James, you are right. In Canada we don't use NHL.com, it takes forever. Just walk to the nearest sporting goods store, cheaper too.
